PC to TV Problems (Radeon 7500)
i recently bought a radeon 7500 video card. after i installed it, i hooked it up to my receiver thats hooked up to my tv. but when i watch it on my tv i see these lines slowly coming up from the bottom of the screen. it kinda looks like when you look at a computer monitor through a camera. its not really blinking, just lines slowly moving. could it be the video card? i think it might be the unbranded 12 feet s-video cable, but im not sure. im using win98se,radeon 7500 (refurb), unbranded s-video cable(12feet),receiver(onkyoTX-DS595) to tv through unbranded 6feet s-video cable. if you guys can give me some advice i'd greatly appreciate it. thnx

When I use the TV output on my ATI Radeon 7500, I'm not getting any lines like you are. I think that if you had a shielded (or higher grade) of s-video cable, the interference would be reduced or eliminated. You could try going to the TV directly with the shorter cable, then with the longer cable. See if there's any interference from that setup. Why are you going through your receiver? My TV has three inputs, so I don't go through any external switch or receiver.
One odd thing is that the video resolution can't be set to anything less than 800x600. 800x600 is really too high for a (normal) TV to display with any quality. 640x480 is a better choice for TV output. I've got another system that has vhs and s-video output directly from the motherboard (intel 810 chipset) that I've used as a DVD player. Using 640x480, the picture looks good (DVD is 720x480). |

when i first saw the lines i also thought it could be my receiver, but when i tryed connecting it directly to the tv. the lines are more frequent and darker. but i also think it could be my cheap s-video cables. i might stop by wiz or radio shack to get me some shielded cables. thnx for the help.

Your card has a composite video out, right? Did you try feeding into the television that way? Do you get the same results?

naa it doesnt have a composite out. it only has s-video. but i do have a s-video->composite plug, but since s-video is better than composite id rather try buying a better s-video cable. if it still doesnt work ill probably rip the video card apart
