Background HUM in speakers
I bought my sister some cheap speakers for her computer. Unknown to me, she bought a set of speakers that she was using. They both have a background HUM all of the time. Anybody know what causes this?

bad cable, emf leakage from the monitor, unclean power, bad power supply, crappy sound card/sound card port, sound card too close to fan/power cables/ processor, bad house wiring, cordless phone interference, cheap ass speakers.
Something.

try muting the mic if you have one.
or maybe you have the sound on the computer to low and you are trying to compensate by turning the speakers up to high. |

or, you might have the wave, or internal volumes set to high. Possibly she has a big magnet in her head, or a mutant power.

Do you mean an actual microphone which she doesn't have or a setting that I am not aware of?

i think they mean the setting, you double click the little logo in your system tray, go to option, then properties, then select recording, make sure underneath that mic is selected. then hit ok, then it should have the panel of volumes you can adjust and mute the mic option.

Could it be that the speakers are just cheap?
I mean, if you get really cheap speakers, almost nothing you can do will really improve the sound quality.
