Rounter and file transfers
I am unable to do a file transfer through icq or AIM when I try to send a file to someone who is also using a rounter. I get some sort of error message saying it could not establish a connection because we are both behind firewalls. I'm using a netgear rt314 router and I have road runner cable modem. I have seen all over the web that a lot of people have this problem, but I haven't seen a solution. Any help on how to fix this problem is appreciated.
Thanks |

Most routers use a nat firewall.
I've found this site to be really helpful in poking holes in my firewall when using ics and after I spent the money on a router. http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...pecialapps.htm http://www.practicallynetworked.com/..._port_list.htm With a nat they do not accept inbound connections that have not been requested. Thats why you need to open the correct ports. |
