Question Infinite loop bug?

I'm planning on building a new computer here real soon and I was planning on using an Abit KR7A, a Gainward Ti450, and WinXP... Now after reading reviews around the internet I'm a little worried that I'll get this "infinite loop" bug (or whatever it's called) and not be able to get my machine to run. Any advice would be appreciated.

The infinite loop problem mainly occurs with WinXP, a GeForce card, and a Via chipset board. However it has been known to happen with non-Via chipsets.

Via tried to blame Nvidia for the problem but the infinite loop problem occurs with other videocards.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Abit KR7A uses the VIA KT266a chipset...
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.

It is probably also not just VIA's fault either: XP has a lot to do with it!

Anyway, it seems to me that it is not really something that can be avoided. I wouldn't let it decide what components you use. Get the hardware you want and tweak the computer as needed.

I'm planning on upgrading my OS pretty soon, but I think I'm going to go with Win2K, partly because of this.

OK, thanks for your opinion... I'm here at college and there are plenty of computer geeks that can help me troubleshoot it if something does happen.
