What do Bad sectors actually do? The one thing I notice so far is that I am getting alot of windows blue screens
is there any way to fix bad sectors? |

Scandisk can repair the bad sectors, but it can't repair what is causing those bad sectors. It's probably time for a new hard drive.

FYI - Scandisk doesn't actually repair bad sectors, it just marks them as bad so the system doesn't try to write to them anymore. Too many bad sectors & your drive space gets smaller & smaller.
Of course, this isn't as much of an issue with a 40GB HD as it was with a 340MB one... You should probably also download the drive diagnostics from the drive MFR - that will tell you if your drive is about to die. |

Yeah, that's true. Haha, a friend of mine once had a 3.2 gig hard drive with just over 2.5 gigs of working space because of bad sectors. ![]() ![]() |
