I got a digital camcorder!(Questions)

This is kinda long, but I could use some help on this one...

Ok, I just got a Sharp(I know, it's not a Sony...) digital camcorder. I forget the model number though, but it has 26x optical zoom, 780x digital zoom, some kind of feature to keep the screen from jumping around when filming, and Super Cat's Eye which is basically nightvision in black&white via infrared(I love this feature. Anyways, it uses those mini DV casettes and although it has software to connect to a PC, it doesn't have the feature of allowing you to transfer videos to the PC. Atleast, you can't do it with what they provide out of the box. It has a "DV" port though for digital editing and the manual is a little foggy on the topic. They say to hook the camera up to "video editing equipment" via the DV cable that you purchase seperately. So basically what I want to know is, how exactly do I transfer videos to my PC from the camera? I want to be able to make videos on CD to pass out to my friends. Thanks for any help guys.

hmm, a firewire card huh? Don't know much about firewire, just that it's a fast interface. I guess I can look on ebay and see how much they go for on there. I think I saw Premier somewhere on the net. Might have been Morpheus I'll check it out. Thanks Aglio.

Edit- Found some Firewire cards on ebay with DV cables and such. I think I'm set to go now....

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic but I figured I'd mention it anyways. If you're looking for a scanner to complement your digital camcorder, you might want to take a look at this:

Umax Astra 6400 Flatbed Scanner (FireWire)

I mention this because the package includes a FireWire card and it all goes for $50. Not too shabby.

Thanks for the reference Corsec, but I just got a brand new firewire card today. A pretty up to date one too with three ports on it. Can't wait to get it in the mail. Thanks again for all of the advice.
