Scanner trouble

I recently installed Windows XP on my computer, and when I try to install my scanner it says it is unable to find the equipment. I have unistalled, reinstalled, updated and all and still nothing. I own a HP Scanjet 5300c. Please help if you can.

Stupid question : But is the software your installing compatible with WinXP?

Try downloading a newer version from HP

Click on the link.......... see if that helps?

Yeah, the software is Xp comp. but the driver I downloaded from Hp's site isn't working. i constantly get fatal error and it erases the unzipped files
