Need advice on a new system
Hi all,
I'm planning on getting a new system. For the CPU, I'm looking at the Athlon 1800XP and for the motherboard, I'm considering the Abit KR7A-RAID. I need some advice on the type of memory to buy. I'd like to get Crucial but am not sure of the differences out there: Unbuffered, nonparity, Unbuffered ECC, or Registered ECC? Thanks! |

If you're not in a terrible hurry, you might want to consider holding off for a month or so. The new .13 micron Athlon XP should be out soon as well as VIA's KT333 chipset. At the very least, even if you don't need those parts, they'll drive the price down on the "older" .18 Athlons and KT266A mobos.

I am running an Athlon 1.4 GHz Thunderbird in that same board. This is the memory I am using : Corsair Memory Strong memory, stable in overclocking, and overall great stuff. I am running two sticks currently throwing me at 512. God I need my Tax Return so I can go to 1Gig. ![]()
