Help-PNY GF 4 TI 4400 problem
Hi all, thanks to all who read this. I just bought this video card. I'm haveing problems with it. When ever I run 3dMark 2001 my computer freezes and it never did this with my MX video card. 1 out of 5 times can I completely run 3dmark. When it freezes I hit control-alt-delete and the computer does a nonstop beep. I've got the newest 4-1 driver, i've tried the 27.42 driver that come with the card and nothing changes, it still hangs. I've tried the 28.32 drivers and still the same thing. I'm thinking its a power problem. I'm only running a 300 watt psupply. Have ideas let me know. My system specs are as follows:
Abit KT7a mobo AMD tbird 1.4@1.4 Dragon Orb 3w/7000rpm 512mb cas2 ram PNY GF 4 Ti 4400 Asus 50x cdrom Liteon 24x burner Liteon 16x DVD ata100 controler SB 5.1 Xgamer supra max modem realtek 10/100 1-120mm case fan 2-80mm case fans and power supply fan |

some thoughts:
*bad card- hopefully not but even PNY make mistakes and IMO 300 wts should be enough power. *RAM- bad or you need to shut down programs before testing. *Card settings- disable v-synch. *Bios setting- set it up for stability not performance. Set the AGP for 2x's and enable fast write. *drivers- did you do a clean install? You might need to run detonator destroyer program to clean out the old drivers. You may want to do a full clean install from your OS on down. *Intall directX 8.1 from microsoft, yours might be corrupted, 3dtest wont run without. *comp virus *ASK CHOSEN- he has all the right answers ![]() I'm running: p4 1.7@1.7 Via Mobo 512 DDR pc2100 Gf3ti200 @190/444 I got 6180 on my last 3dmark. I ordered a crystal orb for my vid and need to reseat my cpu cooler for better marks. You should get pretty high marks with your setup.

I doubt it is a power problem, but if there is a way where 3dmark won't stall, you could check your cpu temp right after running it and see if it has gone up a large amount. It should be up just because of running 3dmark, but it would be a lot more if it is not drawing enough power. That would rule that out.
Test your card in another sysem (another of your own, a friends, etc) and see if it works fine. I had to do that with my system. My friend has the exact same video card (PNY GeForce3 TI 200) so I swapped it out to test some video problems I was having. That had no effect, so it wasn't the video card. Thanks for posting. I ran 3DMark 2001se for about 5hrs and it never froze my computer. It also ran my computer only up to 111 degrees F. So its not a heat problem. As soon as I run the 1.1 version it freezes. I took the card back to the store. I'm not fooling with it. Even the se edition it constantly pauses and stuff like that. A fresh install probley would have helped but. I don't want to format because of a finicky video card. Oh well i'll buy a different one when I find a different maker. I would like a Gainward. I've had 2 Gainward video cards and I love them. They seem to work very well for me. So thanks alot for your help.
