Question Audigy...worth a $50 upgrade?

The basic audigy...I would be getting it for the 192 recording support.
How does it perform in games?
How stable are the win2k drivers?

Well the performance is greatly noticeable if. . . you have good speakers to output to. About the drivers, not sure on 2k, I have it running on xp and they are fine. I would assume though being creative and the w2k drivers for the live! is good. . . why not for the audigy on w2k. I haven't heard of any driver issues either on w2k with the audigy.

As expected the Audigy has the best EAX implementation. Audigy W2K drivers are just fine.

Kind of a shame about the MX300 since it was a great card for its time. I tried my MX300 under Win2k but it wasn't fully functional since Aureal died before the drivers were finished. Time to upgrade.

Can't believe there are people who still keep MX300 card. It's sad that Aureal went out of business. Their sound cards are superior than Creative Labs IMO.

ya...

Until last fall, I've was nothing be pleased with my Vortex2 card. Unfortunately, the support has fallen off and games tend to not like it-and I miss good 4-speaker audio in games. (I'm putting off Serious Sam2 until I get a better card.)

Yes, it works as a standard FireWire port.

But is it worth the upgrade to Audigy if I already have the Live! Value?

I have cambridge soundworks speakers.

Question question...

I thought I knew...now I not so sure...

The connectors... Does the Audigy have a Line out-forward and Line out-rear?
The reciever that I use has a 5.1 component input (i use for 4 speaker) and dolby prologic from two channels. I do not have a digital connector on my reciever that I would use to connect to the computer.

Update: went to store...

...checked card-not only does it support analog 4-channel, it also supports analog, component center and subwoofer. I'm buying this card.
