Data CD's for Audio?

Staples has TDK CD's on sale this week. I checked them out and the box says they are for Data. Is there any difference between Data CD's and Audio CD's or is this just a gimmick?

The audio cd-r's are for home units decks that only record audio.

There is a difference. Some stand-alone recorders (like the Phillips) will only record on Audio CD-Rs. The RIAA (record industry) gets a piece of ($$$$) each audio CD-R sold.

All computer recorders will make use of data or audio CD-Rs. The ones labeled Audio are usually more expensive (because of the royalties paid).

If you use your PC to record CDs, like most of us, data... audio... whatever... just get the least expensive.

These days... you shouldn't EVER have to pay more than $0.25 per disc if you buy in sizes of 50 discs or greater.
