Angry Finally!!!

Finally my IBM 60GXP hard drive (40GB) died! I only have it for more than a month! Now I have to deal with IBM customer service for RMA... I just turned on my computer this morning (was fine last nite @ 11:30 PM) and it didn't boot into Windows! I could hear the hard drive tried to spin (scratchy sound) and stopped! Just wanna vent my anger!

I was already thinking of saying that before I got to Leon's post. I'm waiting on them to return a RMAed 45GB 75GXP so I can restore my RAID 0 array. But I will never feel "comfortable" running on them again. Probably be ghosting one of the three partition every night or something (takes 2 to 4 hours for each).

I used another computer and used the IBM as a slave. I ended up recover all of my data (thanz GOD) but I lost the OS drive! I then used the IBM DFT to clean the hard drive (fixed bad sectors). The hard drive now worked again but I don't know when it's goin' to do this again!

Thumbs down

Hopefully the RMA will be done soon. The replacement hard drive will likely die also.

Checked on my RMA status - it says my replacement drive is on the way. Now for the fun of restoring/recovering all the stuff.

I used IBM DFT utility and clean the hard drive! The bad or corrupted sectors are gone but I don't know if they are fixed or they were just hidden! ANybody has any idea??? I got the hard drive to work again and reinstalled windows! Everything seeems to be fine now! Also does IBM send you the replacement drive first (with your CC number provided) or you have to send your drive first???
