Well, well, the GotApex guys move quickly. I sent in that review in a terrible state of HTML messiness but Darth got it all fixed up and posted ASAP. Most excellent. Thx a ton, Darth!

Please, do not hesitate to let me know what you liked, hated or really didn't give a damn about in this review and I will see about addressing your wishes the next time around. Well, maybe not the very next time as my review of the VisionTek Xtasy GF4 Ti 4200 is pretty much in the can already. But, rest assured, I will listen to everything you have to say for future reference.

Peace - Out

KillerG

PS, I have to post as Tyana (one of my QIII player aliases) as some dirty dog already has my KillerG username for this forum. The nerve... BTW, Tyana is an acronym. 20 bucks (well, 20 bucks Canadian that is - about a nickle 95 to you American peeps!) to the first person to figure it out.

Some wannabe G|A?...

Anyway, I liked the review... it is a little longer than the reviews I am used to seeing at Got|Apex?, but that is okay...

Yep I bet he is, we were just goofin' around.

Ok, Peeps, I have had a few folks asking where in the US they can get their hands on X-Micro cards. As you may have noted, the "Cons" portion of the reviews conclusion does list availability as an issue. However, in response to the questions about this I asked X-Micro where to get the cards. They informed me that this online retailer www.utahcomputercases.com does have access to their cards. I don't see X-Micro cards listed on the site but there is something to the effect of "we have other stuff that is not listed here" on the site so...

...slide by the site, give "Mike" a call or shoot him a fax. Hopefully he can help you out if you would like to get your mitts on one of these cards.

Heyya kfoo

When I review a card it actually lives in one of my workstations and I use it in my game rig for at least a couple of weeks. As a matter of fact, the T4600 is in the system I am using right now. I have yet to see any sort of glitch in 2D. I use a 1600x1200 desktop and I do find the display quality to be just fine. Are fonts clear and legible with X-Micro cards? Yes they are. Do DVD movies look good with these cards? Yes they do but, I say that relative to how those same movies appear to me on my TV. Obviously they look awesome at the high resolution offered by a PC monitor. I once read a card review that got into DVD presentation quality and the reviewer was using about a ten times zoom to show differences in screenshots from a movie on two different cards. I thought at the time that that was ridiculous as nobody watches a movie zoomed in like that. If one has to zoom in to see the differences then is there a differnce worth mentioning? I think not. The cards do offer the display resolutions and refresh rates that I prefer to use (as do all the NVIDIA based cards I have used) and they seem to get along very well with my Trinitron, Samsung, DTI and ADI monitors. Aside from those things I really can't say much as 2D is so very dependent on the monitor that one uses, the refresh rates one chooses, the ambient light in the room, the gamma setup for the monitor, etc...

In my opinion there are simply too many user adjustable display parameters and preferences for me to make specific blanket statements about display quality.

I suppose I could offer comments in that area if I covered myself by saying something like "depending on how you have your monitor set up" or some such. I will give that some thought actually.

thanks for the reply.

as i've read reviews on 2D impression of geforce4.. and it seems every brand produce different quality.. eventhough they are practically the same thing.. now i think it makes the purchasing decision much easier.. as their prices is also much cheaper than others.. e.g. Asus and etc.

thanks
