CDPlayers and CDROM's
I just received a used music CD from half.com. I tried playing it on my computer which has an HP 7200 CDRW (2X2X6). Well, it wouldn't play the first two tracks, then it started skipping on the 3rd and 4th track and it just got worse on some of the other tracks. I looked at it and it is heavily scratched.
So I tried it on my Pioneer CDPlayer, which is a stand alone unit for my home stereo and it works great. A friend of mine does Karaoke several nights a week. He notices that some CD players will play CDRW's and others won't. Another KJ told me about the Singing Machine, which is a VERY cheap Karaoke player, which I bought for about $50 on the WEB. It actually plays CDRW's! What is the difference between CD players? Is it the sensitivity of the laser, the speed of the unit, the firmware within the unit? |

Usually has to do with the laser and how powerful it is. But there are other factors to, like how stable the disc is kept on the drive and such.
