It depends on who you go through. The library I am working for is paying about $1,400 a month for full T1. But I have seen it advertised for as low as $500 a month. It might be dropping in price though, because the thoroughput is not that much more than a cable modem or dsl connection: 1.5 Mbps.

It is actuallu slower than my cable. It is about 187KB/sec downstream and my cable gets 240KB/sec. The only advantage would be that the upstream is the same 187KB/sec as the downstream and my upstream is 45KB/sec.

I get my cable modem installed on Friday as well. I pay about $19USD per month for the first 6 months, then $23US after that. Its a pretty good rate compared to the cost in the US.

I moved out a month ago. I have had no TV, no newspaper, no internet, and no phone line. (I do have a cell)

It will be nice to get hooked up again.

You kind of answer your own question. Well, no.. we are talking about my connection. Right. It is RoadRunner. It is capped @ that speed. That is good and bad, but more good. I can't get like 1MB/sec when no one is on, but with it being capped I know that (and I have) I will always get this speed. I am just happy to know that for the same price dsl or some other cable connections, I am getting faster speeds.

He probably means 1 Mbps, which is equal to 125 MB/s. I get almost 2 Mbps with Time Warner RR but I want to uncap to higher speed.

He is already getting 2 Mb/s, which is roughly equivalent to 250 KB/s, which is around 1/4 of 1 MB/s.

I don't know anyone personally, but it is possible. I forget exactly what the capacity of a cable modem is, but it is at least 10Mbit which is 1.25MByte. If you have an uncapped modem and there is not many people on the network, it is possible. I have heard this of people on Cox awhile ago. I don't know if they changed it.

So, yes I meant 1MB/sec. That is 1/5 T3 speed.

Yes, I get 2Mbps always on my downstream. I am capped so it is never more, but I am always guaranteed that.

A typical T1 runs about $900-1200/mo, depending on the provider & the length of the contract (at least in my area it does). I've never seen it as cheap as $500/mo - that would be great! I think prices vary quite a bit depending on your location.

For hosting or critical business use, a T1 is still the best option. For surfing & general internet access, you really can't beat cable and DSL.

I mean 125 KB/s not 125 MB/s.

I got mine setup too. I pulled down 380kbps from Nvidia's site. For some reason, they gave me a USB ethernet adapter instead of a PCI. My case was open and everything. I think I'll sell the USB adapter and get a PCI. I don't like all the wires I have, it adds to the clutter.
