The Noisest fan in my comp...is the little Motherboard bus fan!!!

Any ideas?

Should I just rip it off and try to replace it?

It just got noisy this morning.

I'd have to (even thought I dont want to ) agree with Ribitch on this one. Just go to Radio Shack and buy a small fan from them, put some thermal paste in the middle and put some super glue on the edges. You get a better fan with paste and you dont have to worry about mounting it

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh nnnnnooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pain!!!!!! The humility. I cannot live with myself now!!!!

j/k

good points LK, you may be able to get a chipset heatsink fan combo from a local computer store. these usually have the side pins that hold the fan to the mobo as opposedd to gluing the heatsink to the board. It may cost a few extra dollars, but allows easy replacement.

Good one man, I needed some funny stuff today (day is dragging on...I NEED A WEEKEND!)

I guess I assumed he had a rat shack and not a comp store, your idea is better if he can get to a comp store .

Decent little chipset fans are cheap, too. I ordered a little Vantec unit to replace the noisy chipset fan on my Soyo Dragon+. Cost me $6, I think... and it's silent.

Minor effort. Minor cost.

I shopped around for fans. It looks like the best deals are the $7 crystal orbs. These fans are advertised as VGA / chipset fans. I didn't realize they were same size fans.

Oh...the age...six weeks old. I think I'll email MSI and give them a chance to redeem themselves by sending me a free replacement.

The Abit BD7II-RAID mobo just has an aluminum heatsink on the chipset. Would it be worth it to get a fan for it?
