Angry Random crashes.....ARGGHH!!

I'm not sure if this is a hardware, driver, or some other kind of problem, but I've been playing a lot of Age Of Kings and it will just randomly crash back to the desktop without any warning, and then the computer will continue running fine, this has happened a couple times during rainbow six and every now and then on 3dmark2001 (it only seems to crash back to desktop in 3dmark if the video card is oc'd, but otherwise its at stock speeds). I'm running an athlon xp2100+ unlocked at 1.81ghz (it never blue screens) and a geforce 4 ti4600 with the detonator 30.82 drivers. Does anyone have any ideas for solving this issue?

I guess I am overclocked (lightly....70mhz..), but the temperature is the same as it was when I was at the stock speeds, plus I have my case open and a 12" fan blowing on it just incase. My temps dont get very high, around 50 on full load (which is how it started), and the computers actually in my basement which is nice and cool too, if I increase the voltage would this help the problem?

this happened to me a while back to ALL my games... I'd be playing CS and out of the blue it would close and go back to the desktop. Jedi Knight 2, same thing. Starcraft same thing.

I first thought it was drivers so I reinstalled my vid/sound drivers but it didn't help. I then tried playing CS and right after it closes down I rebooted and went into BIOS where I can check my CPU temp. It was at frickin 60 C!!

Took my case apart, checked the heatsink. Lo and behold my thermalright sk6 was tilted so it was probably touching half of the core. I took it out and refitted it back in, but it was still tilted. Took it off and this time I put the side of the clip where the screwdriver slot goes on the opposite side and it was fine.

My games never crash anymore after that, idle temp at night is 32-34 during the day 39-41.

I guess the moral of my story is that it doesnt matter how much ventilation you got going inside your case if your heatsink is on wrong. Trust me, I know ventilation.
