is this any good?
I just bought an LG CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. I know the cd-rw is good, but i dont know much about the dvd-rom portion of it. My DVD-ROM's speed is 8X, which is pretty slow talking about CD-ROM, is DVD-ROM different? If it is slow, will it affect my dvd's (i.e: choppiness, etc.), or will it just load up slowly, and then be normal once it is loaded? or is it pretty good in all?

cd 1x means the cd runs at the speed needed to play a song
dvd 1x means it runs fast enough to play a movie (so no choppiness) also, 1x cd does not equal 1x dvd 1x dvd is about 8-9x cd

DVD speeds are much faster the CD. even though it is 8x it is faster then a 24x CD
to play a movie all you need is a 1x speed. you should be fine ![]() |

1x CD-ROM = 150KBbytes per second
1x DVD-ROM = 1354KBytes per second (roughly 9x CD-ROM) Hope this clarifies things. ![]() |
