Unhappy my mobo died?!?!?!?!?

well i installed a new cd burner i got at staples for 30 bucks after rebate... i install it and turn on my comp... nothing happens... im like wtf... the monitor says its working and to check the pc... so i check my vid card, but its running... i then look at my motherboard... the little LED light in there is lite up... but when i turn on the comp it turns off... so i think my motherboard is outta wack... b/c if it were my hd... it would still show an image... if it were my proc it would still go into bios... and if it were my vid card... my comp would beep... but that lil led turning off has me thinking its the mobo.. am i analyzing ths wrong... could there be a simple solution? HELP ME!!!!... otherwise i gotta get a new mobo...

well the fans all spin... and my dvd rom spins... but i cant hear the hd spinning and the mouse and keyboard dont light up...

sure hope my hd is dead... and now it doesnt show the memory bootup test... nothing displays

Orrr. . . what kind of power supply do you have? If all you added was the cd-rw drive, could be your ps just doesn't have enough juice for everything now.

maybe when u installed the burner u brushed against some thing and sent a shock to it and erased something esential. dont laugh happened to me. always ground yourself. i "erased" my mouse and keyboard drivers. now that was a pain.

omg dark fury... u are a master... thanks a lot... it dawned on me that i flipped the ide cables to make them "fit" better... without realizing it they were upside down... whew... i was bout to spend an extra hundred bucks for a new mobo... i already got a 19inch monitor and the new burner... thought id never stop spending money... thank you so much...
and snowserfer... yea i made sure i grounded myself and made as little contact with the mobo... so i wasnt convinced that i shocked it

as a rule of thumb, the edge of the IDE cable with the red wire on it should always be closer to the power plug side.
