looking for a firewire/usb enclosure. . .

Ok for some reason i'm being REAL picky how this enclosure must look and I doubt there is anything that exists. First off it needs to be for a 3.5" drive and not one of those 5.25" enclosures that can fit a 3.5" drives, only 3.5" hds to fit in the thing. Secondly needs to have usb and firewire connections. Thirdly and most importantly it needs to have the oxford 911 chipset. And last, it has to look decent. . . well really doesn't matter as long as 1-3 are met. Any links?

firewire only and 5 1/2 inch enclosure but coolness factor is really high:

My next FW drive:

2.5" enclosure and pretty cool looking:

really thin 2.5":

personally, I dont think there are any "cool" looking enclosure available in the 3.5" category. The 2.5" cases look cool, but the drives are more pricy. The 3.5" enclosures are nice, but your best bet is to get a premade drive (upgradable, so you can dump the small drive for a larger drive).

I like the lacie drive because it has a minimalist look, yet has a buttload of storage space. The LCD enclosure is also pretty damn cool. It needs some blue LED's though

Uh. . . thanks for those links. . . but the looks are last on my list. I think its more important trying to find what I want first functionaly otherwise it'll just look cool on my desk doing nothing I want it to.

ah beautiful. . . thanks man, if only these damn things weren't so pricey. Looks like I might end up buying a prefabbed one.

Hey ribitch, you know if the lacie uses oxford 911? *sigh* just gonna cost to much to justify saving the slight space and having usb legacy. Probably will just go with a firewire only drive. Either the western digital or the lacie, the wd has a faster access time but I hear lacies are solid . . . and well my luck with wd hasn't been the best.

i am not sure what chipset lacie uses because they dont advertise that info, but reviews I have seen in the past and owner testimonials seems to justify it. They usually outperform many similar drives.
