Canon S110 Warranty - WTF

Ok. So when I was on my trip in Seattle earlier this month I was taking a picture of the downtown area with my cam. Snapped the pic, went to press the off button on the cam and the cam just clicked over and over trying to retract the lens. Camera broken. So i'm pissed blah blah blah. Sent the Camera in to Canon to get fixed figuring the camera obviously breaking by just pressing OFF would be covered under warranty since I do expect $350 dollar products to last at least a year.....they sent me a bill back for $167! I don't have my box here since it's at my parents house but does anyone know if this is covered under the warranty? Cause if it is, i'm gonna fight this. There is no way i'm paying over half hte price of the camera just to get it refurbished for something that wasn't even my fault.

Every company is the same, I tell ya. After repeated success with Epson Photo printers, I bought an Epson 1270 when I needed a wide carriage photo printer. Well, I had nothing but trouble with it. Now I am very anal about my printers and I only use good quality paper and OEM inks. After a few weeks, the printer just started spewing black ink all over my printed documents.

So I call to get it fixed under warranty and they actually had the audacity to tell me that I must have used cheap replacement ink packs and that wouldn't be covered under warranty! Like you, I gave them a piece of my mind and it was replaced for free (although the problem came back and I recently replaced it with a Canon S9000 that blows the Epson away.)

I won't even BEGIN getting into my nightmare with SONY.

So good for you for calling Canon and getting them to repair your camera for free!

Companies will often send a bill. I think with the hope/expectation that many people won't even question it -- just pay it. For the percentage that call and b|tch, they'll listen and possibly rescind.

Think of how much they make from people who just roll over. Amazing!
