Well the interesting thing is it says that Firewire or USB 2.0 is sold separately.

They don't exactly say what that means. A base unit that it plugs into?

i'll stay with my iPod. I really dont think i would use it to view pictures and a video would probably look like crap on that screen because its small.

From their website:

Quote:
Built-in 1.5" LCD (Liquid Color Display) RGB.
Color LCD 237 x 234 pixels
External Composite Video Out (to TV)

The screen on my digital camera is larger than this!
I agree, if the screen were larger, I'd be more interested in it.

you can buy modules for this mp3 player that will give it firewire or usb 2.0 capabilities and there is even a camera module. I'd have to see pricing and size of these modules to even consider buying it though.

I wish I could "stay with my ipod." cant afford it so I need an alternate. almost picked up that samsung yepp mp3 32mg for $40 but I needed to buy a 64mg(the largest it will take) and its poorly designed(battery cover can easily break and its ruined).
I figure its better to get one with a hd. That ipod is too much, whats a good alternative for under $200.

What about the Creative Nomad player? The 6gb one... besides the fact that it is the size of a discman, it's under $150 shipped here

The 10gb one is only $171 + s/h... but since I don't know much about the Ipod except that guy in the commercial dances around with it, I could be wrong somewhere

my ipod is great. its a 10GB solid state wheel model. The remote is ok, barely use it, but very nice to have while studying and whatever. The ipod lets you make custom playlists and also browse by practically every ID3 category. I liek putting the player on random so it acts like a kind of radio station. T%he UI is very easy and clean.

I have played with the nomad when it first came on the market. I dont know much about it any more so i cant compare the two. I would wait a few months and see if the ipod comes down in price or try to buy a refurb from apple

i have a nike psa play, made my rio. it's tiny. it's 32mb base, i have a 64 mmc card in it as well. i think you can expand it to 160mb. it works well for me, but i don't need to hold tons of music, i only use it at the gym.

the headphones that ship with it suck. the last time i checked the price, they were only about $50.

I have the Frontier Labs NexII MP3 player and love it. It is somewhat limited in that it does not have a radio tuner clock or a voice recorder (I would never use that anyway) But it is less than $100 and takes compantflash memory, which I had thanks to my digital camera. It also accepts microdrives. The best benefit is that the player does not have any additional encoding. Just drag and drop files onto the player like any other drive. No extra jukebox software to clutter up my already too cluttered up system.

hehehe, I have a samsung yep (old parallel port version), a rio 500 and a rio 600, and my iPod. I used to have the audiovox mp-1000.

rio 500 - 64MB + 16 MB SM
rio 600 - 32 MB
S. Yepp - 64 MB
iPod - 10GB

So i have had my share of mp3 players. The best have been the audiovox and apple. the audiovox had great features, and was totally free. The software was reallky good as well.
