48 x's Cendyne Burner is made by?

Im not sure where to look for the magic numbers that tell if my new burner is made by lite on or someone else? I found these #'s on one of the labels: AGC12F2227000193
Dont see a LTR or whatever so who makes this drive.
-jel
BTW this is from that crazy officemax deal a few days ago that sent that burner, 100 CD-r's, 2 cheap phones and a pack of pens for $87.xx with $70 in mail in rebates.......

I believe that if it's a lite-on drive it should show as that in your device manager.

Shows as cendyne if when i installed it.
I know there was certain alphanumeric code to designated it as a lite on or "other."
Cant complain either way for the price and performance.

Ok, I just realized something. The burner came with NERO express and a cd-r but no driver disc. Do I need any kind of driver for the burner. In the device manager it shows a ms driver.
I need to burn something later, will I need a driver/driver update or will that nero program take care of. Also for optimization, is there a certain driver or program other than NERO i should be using for fast and consistant burning.

Thanks,
-jel

No, its not a LiteOn its a Accesstek. I just bought a Cendyne 48X and I wanted the LiteOn. I got the Accesstek the first time. I took the drive back to OfficeMax and they exchanged for the Liteon with no problem. They were happy to exchange it for me. I like OfficeMax. To tell the difference between the two makers, the Liteon has all 12 # on the serial on the box will be all numbers. No letters. Hope this helps. If it makes you feel any better, I cant tell the difference between the 2. They both offer the same thing in terms of burning. The only difference is the Accesstek doesn't offer Mount Reigner support. Hope this helps.

Mt Rainer!

No Jello, you don't need drivers for CD drives, period.

The easiest way to tell if a drive is a lite on - if it uses Smart BURN, it's a lite on. If it uses Just Link, it's a Ricoh. If it uses Burn Proof, it's a Sanyo based drive.

Every Cendyne that I've bought (12X, 32X, 48X) has been a Lite-On. I think it has to do with the distributor. I've bought all three of mine from Staples in 2002, 2001, and 2000 respectively.

Can I take the drive back to a B&M store? I got mine over the net.
Going to burn something tonight where would it tell me if it uses burn proof or what?
Thanks,

jigglin jello, if it doesn't say Liteon in the device manager than its a Accesstek. If you go to the Cendyne web site and go to the faqs page, half the forum have that very question, who makes my burner? The support person in charge of the forums will tell you its an Accesstek. Thats how I found out. Also if your serial on the box has letters in the serial number than its an Accesstek. They only have 2 manufactures they get their drives from. Accesstek and Liteon.

Ok, i checked some more and it turns out to be an OptiRite 48X12X48X Model #CW4802. The one on their site looks neat, but this one looks more basic. It also support Mt. Rainer etc. Apparently I can send it back to Cendyne and get the lite on version. My friend wants it so i might sell it and get that 48 lite on from dell.

Its a rebadged optirite 48x16x48(box says 48x12x48x and shows a lite-on unit). It has a faster r-w speed.

The new ones support that mt. ranier. I didnt figure out what kind of burn protection it uses. It's packed I'm trying to return it for a lite on unit.

Drive Model: CW 4802
Writing Method: Disc-at-once, Track-at-once, session-at-once, packet writing, Mt. Ranier.

On their forums people were talking about returning them for the lite-on and cendyne was obliging.

I think this drive would be fine for what i do, but I prefer lite-on. Either way after rebates this thing cost me less than $18. I got that and a 100 80 minutes cd-rs, 2 cheap phones and some pens.

SO

got one today from staples... they replaced the 40x cendyne with the 48x cendyne for the $9.98 after MIR price. In my excitement, I totally forgot to check to see if it were a liteon (drive model: LTR128W) or something like that. Mine just said 48x12x50x. Having the hardest time finding a local OM, Staples, CC that has it in stock so I can exchange.
