Question Need a new laptop

my dad is looking for a new laptop. price is like 3rd or 4th on his list of priorities. he wants a nice large, clear screen, big keyboard and it has to be light. all he will be doing is word processing and using the internet on it, but im sure he wants a p4m. i dont even know what his budget is, but its safe to say under $2500. he doesnt want a dock so everything would have to be onboard. any ideas on what would fit into those requirements?
TIA

*ahem* excuse me. My dad just got an IBM R32. It is quite nice for the pc laptops. Its a lot better build quality than any dell I've encountered. VERY solid and the screen is just as good imho. Has a very nifty keyboard light, its fun to play with, hehe.

Take a look at Acer laptops. I know that they may not be well known but they have excellent service and have more features for you money. I have had 3 with no problems now for 3 years. The last laptop, bought last week, was the same price as a Dell/IBM/Toshiba but had more RAM, faster processor and a bigger hard drive. The warranty service states a two day turn around international warranty.

Cheers,

yeah, thats what he said. it doesnt have to be 16 inches or anything, just around 12 inches or bigger. pretty much the best size/weight ratio he didnt really give me much to go on.

my dad is kinda dead set against a mac so those are out of the question. he likes some of the sony's, especially the ones with 16.1 inch screens, but 8 lbs is a little heavy. thats about how much his toshiba weighs and carrying that on our last trip wasnt all to much fun. plus i dont like sony laptops all that much except for the fact that theyre pretty cool. i guess im narrowed down to ibm, dell and toshiba. that acer warranty is looking nice since he travels a lot.

Yeah I'd go with the IBM, my dad really likes his R32. The toshiba tecras look pretty cool too. Can't tell you to get a Dell, don't want to recommend it, but they are decent and somewhat reliable. Does help with those great deals though.
