So, which soundcard on the market right this very minute is the BEST?? Audigy Platinum, Turtle Beach?? Coupled with a soundcard, what are the best speakers for a pc?

I really like the Hercules Game Theater XP personally. I have been using mine for about a year and a half. I am not sure about speakers, I use some old advents.

"What is the BEST soundcard?" That depends on what it will be used for and price range.
As for speakers: Klipsch Promedia 5.1's or new Logitech's Z-680. |

i heard turtle beach or sound blaster audigy with IEEE are the two best. now as for speakers, logitech 680's are the best, but for pricewise, the logitech 560's were rated the best out there so far o z-560's will be mine... they will be ![]()

I have been using an Audigy 1394 for a year or so now, and... 1. It sounds great and has direct hardware support in most games-true EAX.(but) 2. Creative is a real slouch with drivers. Frequently newer games have to be patched to work right with the card, rather than creative keep up with software and release new drivers. If I could go back, I would buy this card again, but you need to know about the driver issues.

Actually the Swans M200 are waaaay better but they are for stereo listening not surround sound setup. For sound cards. . .oh my I don't know where to start. There is a whole different world outside of the toy-like creative labs and turtle beach cards. Digital Audio Labs, Aardvark, and M-audio are just a few of the truly high end audio cards available. |

Hah, that would be a cool trick. Where would one find these "high end" audio cards? I haven't even heard of those companies. |

The "high end" sound cards are overrated.

I love my Promedia 5.1s. As far as soundcard, whatever is cheapest. I had creative sblive, then got a Santa Cruz and see no difference (well, HEAR
). I use onboard sound on my XPC system and it works perfectly fine for the 5.1 support for my Klipsch. |
