hardware monitor

hey what do yall use for hardware monitoring software? i just overclocked a p4 1.6 to 1.9 and the one i'm using shows a decrese in temp.

i don't trust it.

I've used motherboard monitor. . . its accuracy depends on the motherboard you're using however. Best absolute way is to get one of those infrared temperature guns and measure directly on the cpu, but those things are quite pricey. A digital doc will probably give you more accurate readings than any software ute relying on the mother board probe.

If your CPU is a 1.6A (especially the last builds, made in Costa Rica) you should be able to get upwards of 2.2 with only a minor increase in temperature. Many of the 1.6A's are underclocked 2.0's. Mine is running at 2.16, being held back by my memory. Some of the guys around here have had theirs up to 2.6GHz. (YMMV)

yup, it's a 1.6a. don't know where it was made though, how can i tell? i got it up to 1.92, but it was unstable. only had a little bit to play though. hopefully i'll have more time one day this week.

I use SiSoft's Sandra. I just check the motherboard and CPU info after a long gaming session to check the temps now and then. (I'm not a big fan of background proggies)

Most ppl need to up their voltage to get high overclocks. Mine will do 16x130 at 1.50V voltage, but I run mine at 16x134 at 1.575V. Most ppl running theirs over 2.2GHz needed to bump their voltage over 1.7V. Until memory prices come down, that won't be me.
