Are MAG monitors any good?

Does anyone here have any experience with their monitors? I couldn't find any reviews for it, or maybe I just didn't look hard enough.

The one I'm really interested in is the 972PF. Link

Any input you guys and gals can give would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Back up several years ago, when 17" inch monitors were still averaging $500+, MAG monitors used to be very nice. I had some experience with them. They used trinitron tubes at the time. As for now, I don't know how good they are.

I know they used to be considered good once upon a time, but I haven't really heard anything about them lately. My father had a MAG monitor years ago that he loved, though it eventually died.

The specs on that MAG look good, though. Have you seen it in person at Best Buy?

I'm a big fan of NEC CRT monitors now. My father has the 19" FE991SB-BK which is terrific. I have the 17" version and it's definitely the best CRT I've had.

The thing is that I have about 140 bucks of Best Buy store credit and just figured that I'd get my new monitor, instead of taking more cash outta my pocket. But they don't have a very wide selection, so I'm just checking on everyone's opinion/experience with the MAG monitors.

If they aren't worth it, I'd probably just blow the 140 smackers on some more DVDs and games...

Due to past experiences, I got mixed feelings on MAG monitors. Sometimes they are great, other times well...

If I was getting a new CRT monitor I'd go for Sony {more expensive as their products usually are} or Viewsonic first followed by IIyama and Mitsubishi-NEC.

I concur with DarkFury its better to get a quality monitor.

BuyXtremeGear.com aka Xtreme Gear should be avoided.

Hehehe... nah, I didn't have my mind set on it yet. Just wondering what was the general concensus on MAG monitors. I was actually looking into purchasing either this or this .

Thanks for all your help guys!

MAG is infact a major brand - on the larger makers of monitors in the world. They also supply the internals to many OEM monitors. I have an LCD by then that is flawless.

They do make quality monitors for the price. If money is an issue, they are good - though nothing beats a Sony 21 inch.

hmmm
weird..
I ordered my vid card & case from them and they've been awesome....
I got a case with a window pre-installed, but it came without one...
so, I e-mailed them, and they sent me the door with a window installed, no questions....
don't have to send back the other door.....

I give one vote for xtreme gear

Its quite interesting that BuyXtremeGear aka XtremeGear ratings have soared in 3 weeks.

lets see from a 4.98 to 6.89 http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2753.html

from a 2.17 to 5.68 http://www.resellerratings.com/seller3104.html

Look at all those positive reviews in the last several days.
