Exclamation ms wireless intellimouse explorer usb probs

I have a MS intellimouse explorer and it would disconect from my usb. Sometimes it would reconnect right away, but my custom button settings would be lost and it would just operate like a 2 button mouse. Then sometimes it would disconnect and not reconnect. This doesn't happen to any of my other usb devices, so I'm wondering if it's the mouse, or possibly the motherboard or OS. I've tried using other ports and the same thing happens.

Do you have a via chipset? Make sure you have the latest 4-in-1 (Hyperion) drivers and USB Filter driver patch.

I used to have weird problems like that with a logitech mouse on my old Aopen motherboard which were fixed when I applied the USB patch.

Yeah I have a via chipset and have updated all the drivers for my motherboad. Doesn't seem like thats the issue. I'm starting to veer towards the possibility thats its my mouse. Wondering if anyone else has had that same issue.

do you have the receiver connected directly to a usb port on the motherboard or through a hub? I notice I always have issues when using a usb mouse on a hub for some reason. Even powered or unpowered ones. I had the same mouse on a via chipset mobo and had it directly connected, never any problems. Also could be the pins on the usb plug are not getting good contact.

I have the same mouse and I have a problem that somehow could be associated with yours. Spontaneously I would lose my custom controls and I had to reboot to restore them until I noticed that somehow two mice were appearing in device manager...the Explorer and a default-type mouse. Every time I would remove it, I'd see it there after my custom controls went haywire a day or so later. I finally decided to disable it in device manager and I haven't had any problems in a couple weeks since. I haven't a clue...I'm anal with driver updates and all that good stuff. Take a look, who knows.
