Garmin enters the PDA market
ever tried to use a palm os based with a GPS add on? or even regular mapping software for that matter? its very frustrating. the maps are extremely slow to load and refresh ever time you move or zoom. well garmin, who makes many gps products, has licsenced palm os for thier iQue 3600 with a built in gps antenna and 32 megs of internal ram. the iQue also uses palm os 5 and a new ARM processor and has a built in microphone for voice memos.
hopefully with garmin behind this and the arm chip the gps features will be useful and not slow |

Only thing is I wish I could justify spending near $600 on a palm os device. At that price level I'd rather get the ipaq and the bluetooth gps, albeit that setup would cost even more, but . . . I dunno just feels weird having to pay that much for a palm os. Definitely is cool looking though. Also I bet it runs out the batteries FAST.

I feel the same way. I picked up a 400mhz Dell Axim for a little under $200 net a month ago ($252 with 128 SD card, sold the card for $55), and I could pick up a good CF GPS device for $100-$200. I know the whole point of it is to be integrated, but I probably would have been more interested if they used Pocket PC or XScale processor... something a little more robust than Palm OS.
