No, do not get the non-Pro. The mod doesnt work anymore. The ones that could be modded were recalled weeks ago. And even if you are lucky enough to still find one that potentially could be modded, you have a less tan 25% chance of makign it actually work. Get the Pro and be happy with the best bang for your busk you can get.

get a radeon 9800 pro, or 9700 pro. Mine is super fast, but there are some problems which I am still working on (aka random crashes) I think it has to do with my mobo and 8x agp...
But it is the fastest card out there and performs super well, if you don't have problems like me

I would say save the money from upgrading to Pro version. There are software modification available for 9500 to 9700 and 9700 to 9800. You can find them at the forum of rage3d.com. I'm using the softmod on my Power-Color 9700 to 9800. No problem so far.

R9000Pro sucks! It's not a R8500 replacement because the correct one is R9100. I would go with the R9500Pro also.

Didn't I just say that there is no longer a way to mod 9500 -> 9700? As far as the 9700 -> 9800 goes, that isnt exactly true. All it does is fools the drivers into thinking the 9700 is a 9800. The preformance gain isnt the same as having a 9800. |

So if you were to choose from the 9500 non-pro and the 9500 pro...You'll get the 9500 Pro?

Yes. A few months ago I would have said non-pro. As it stands now you have less than a 1% chance of getting a non-pro that can be modded and ten successfully modded. If you buy the non-pro and it cant be modded (which is almost certain) then you are left with a card thats slower than a ti4200. Better spending the money on a sure thing. |

9500 pro. Its more expensive, but faster and dx9 complient. 9500pro is easily the best bang for the buck card you can buy now. I own a ti4200 and cant complain about it, but if I was buying a card today id get a 9500 pro.

They both use the same R200 chip. They renamed the Radeon 8500s to 9100s because they performed better than the 9000s. I'm not sure what the clock speeds are on the cards. I would get the 9100 because that one uses the new multi-media center software that uses the Power DVD engine. They 8500s are not licensed for it. |

Below is the link to upgrade from 9500 to 9700 and yes, it will only work Radeon 9500 128MB cards based on the 9700 PCB. If you are really lucky, you may be able to find it (probably used). http://discuss.futuremark.com/forum/...=5&o=0&fpart=1 Here is the link to upgrade from 9700 to 9800. Some 3D Mark 01 @ 1600x1200 even has 40% gain. In 3D Mark with 2x AA, there is a 10% improvement. It may not be as good as 9800 but I really enjoy the 10% boost for free via some software modification. http://discuss.futuremark.com/forum/...=5&o=0&fpart=1 |

This has been answered already. No. Your chances of getting the 9500np with the 9700 pcb are less than 1%. They recalled the ones that can be modded. |

If you do find a used one, chances are that someone tried to mod it failed so it was returned. 9500 may use the same chip as a 9700 but they are the ones that didn't make spec so they disabled pipelines and lowered the clock speed. |

If you guys could choose between a 9700 pro and a 8500 ALl In One, which would you choose? I realize that there are alot of diffeent features involved. While I think the All In One would be cool I don't want to sacrifice gaming quality.

R8500DV uses a slower clock (same as the R8500LE) than the regular R8500. The 128MB R8500 AIW has the same clock speed as the R8500 thus it's faster especially for game.

I've never understood companies who make a multiple monitor card thats weaker than the single monitor version. More real estate to cover should be more power.
