overclocking

Hi, I have never overclocked anything before, I just see my friends do it. Is it hard to learn? What can or can not be overclocked? Thanks

Is it hard? No

Generally, you can overclock your video card very easily through software. Check out www.guru3d.com.

You can also overclock your CPU, in your BIOS. If you don't know what your BIOS is...check out www.overclockers.com. Generally, your mem and bus will overclock with your CPU.

Things to remember...

1: a 10% increase is usually fairly safe. (ie: 100 front side bus to 110)
2: your components will get hot, you may need additional case and CPU cooling.
3: on this board...this forum is all but dead. If you have a more immediate need, post in Technical Support or Hardware.

Unless you're a person that doesn't have enough $$ for new components and you're trying to milk your current system for another .5 year or so.

Ummm...What? You mean 800 FSB? It's a little more complicated than changing a setting...

if your looking for a major clock than yes. but just a small change than yeah you can go there. Their are a lot of webpages out there that shows you how to overclock. but it just depends if you have the $$$ like Bires said. i wouldn't risk o/cing now since their are new boards coming out.

For me personally i like to go with stock.

Too much and too little.

What kind of system do you have? Do you want to purchase a system just to oc it or are you just interested in the concept of oc'ing?

i don't think there is need to o/c with Dell computers. their comps are already good enough just being stock.

Actually I would love to O/C the Dell gig but it doesn't let me so I leave it alone. I can't build a computer for the same amount of $$$ I paid for the Dell that's why I got one. This is the first computer I ever bought.

The others were built by me so I didn't really buy a computer. I only bought computer parts!
