Dell 1800FP questions?

This being my 1st LCD (and it looks great).....

I don't want to run the drivers from dell on rig(s). I don't want Dell trying to sell me something, etc. thru the drivers/"color mapping" program? Does anyone have this monitor and what drivers are you running? Can I grab them somewhere else and do I even need to use drivers? Running it off a oc'd 9700TX thru DVI.

Do LCD's burn in when there left on too long? I let it go into power saving mode rather than use a screen saver but I was wondering for later.

TIA

I've got two of these, and I didn't use the drivers from Dell. I've even run one under Linux (Debian) and it worked fine.

There isn't a burn in problem like there would be for CRT or Plasma screens.

I don't think I could go back to a CRT after using a LCD. If the 2000FP ever goes on sale, I'm getting one.

As far as I know you cannot run the monitor at 1600x1200, could I be wrong?

I'm also connection 1800FP via ATI 9700 DVI port. Run fine without using Dell's driver.

I must admit I love this monitor. I said what the hell and paid $500 a while back, the next thing I know it's down to $450 a few days later. But I figure I don't want to go throught the hassle of not having any monitors connected to my computer as it's price devaluated exponentially. I figure it was worth paying the extra $50 rather return it then return and then wait another week with nothing.

I got in on the $387 deal. Bought one for my wife. She's VERY happy.

ooh man, we got the Dell UltraSharp 2000FP 20-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor 20.1'', LCD monitors here at work. Wowza they are sweet. 1600x1200 and it has s-video in (which would be nice at home for my PS2 )
