that's a good question...I wish I had an answer. I currently run a pair of RAID 0 arrays which spin at full speed all the time, and get quite hot (7200, 8M drives). All of my comps have run RAID 0 arrays for about 2.5 years, and I have never had any problems with heat, although they are quite hot to the touch.

According to the technical specs for both Maxtor and Western Digital, the operating temperature range for both manufacturers is 5 to 55 degrees Celcius (41 to 131 degrees F), and the non-operating temp range is -40 to 70 degrees Celcius (-40 to 158 degrees F).

By the way if you have checked I end every post I write by thanking everyone in advance for their help.....I appreciate all the help I get from this site and "almost" everyone on the site is really cool and helpful....... the reason for my "attitude" is because I feel your "lazy comment" was uncalled for........ and learn how to spell "bastid" ..fool
