333Mhz Athlon XPs....will they run at 266 MHZ if mobo doesn't support 333 Mhz
Ok so I got ****ed over. I have an Asus A7V8X (KT400) motherboard. I want to upgrade my chip cause this 1800+ is just not cutting it. The recent price cut makes some chips very desireable. I was looking on ASUS's site whether or not my motherboard would support the 333 Mhz chips and it says only if my A7V8X has a "333 Mhz" chip on my south bridge...it doesn't...what a bunch of crap.
My question is, if i plopped a 333 mhz Thoroughbred Athlon XP into this machine would it just run at 266 mhz FSB or will it not work at all? |

i'm 99% sure that it'll work. Actually 100%, it's just not going to be full speed.
