I'd go with the dell, haven't heard much good from planar.

I've had a Planar PV174 for around 18 months and I'm very happy with it.

25 ms is pretty much the best response time you can get nowadays. I remember from an earlier post that some places list up and down response time, 10 and 15 ms respectively I think, and that's kinda misleading, so add those together

500:1 contrast ratio is outstanding.... a low grade LCD from a vendor like Kogi or Komodo or Envision (they're a step up) will probably be 250:1, and a medium shelf LCD usually has 350:1.

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the planar uses MVA technology. Ghosting is not as well controlled, especially in the white to black transition, as compared with other 25ms panels.

YMMV.

I have a 19" Planar. There is a little bit of ghosting when I play FPS games, but it's been good otherwise.

I'd go with the Dell... We have these at my work and they are awesome. You can switch between differnt input sources (analog, digital, S-Video and Composite). I think it's well worth the money.

I got the 20.1" Dell last November and have been exceptionally pleased with it. While I don't do much gaming on it (Links Golf) I do lots of Photoshop and video editing and it's been great. Native 1600x1200...there ain't no going back (except at work where I have a crappy 17" CRT.

The dell is great..

I have 2 dells, one 21 inch CRT and 1 20.1 inch LCD.. I have them set up for dual display, and play my games on the CRT and use photo editing/surfing on the LCD. i also play my video game consoles on the LCD because it has the cool inputs for it..

I haven't had any problems with it at all.. Other than it's just not big enough... hehe..
