DVD Copy Program

I haven been trying to use DVD X Copy, but It keeps quitting on me. Does anyone have a good program to me to usr to backup to copyrighted programs?

Have you tried DVDXCopy Xpress? It's a much simpler program to use, and uses a completely different burn engine so it often works when DVDXC won't...Have you contacted the mods on the DVDXC forum to see if they can help with your problem?

BTW...what DVD burner are you using? I know that there are a few burners (the NEC 1100A-based ones that come with the Dell systems) that DVDXC has issues with, although they are working on it.

I have a Cendyne DVD+R burner (NEC 1100A) that works great with DVDXCXpress, but inconsistently with DVDXC. DVDXCXpress is available on their website as a free trial download, which will let you burn 3 complete backups before expiring.

The other thing that I've found through reading DVDXC's forum and personal experience, is that some burners can be very picky about the media that you use. For the most part, stick with name brand media (TDK and Memorex work great for me), at least until you find something that works with your particular burner. I've made about 40 backups of my DVD movies so far with no coasters, when using DVDXCXpress and name brand media.

Yeah, I just picked up a new Dell so I have the NEC based burner, thanks for the heads up using Xpress, I will give that a shot and let you know how things work out.

The only real downside to Xpress is that it ONLY copies the movie, none of the extras, and you only get to choose 1 audio track and 1 subtitle option. It then uses only as much compression as necessary to make the movie fit on a single DVD. Even on movies over 2 hours, I cannot see any difference in quality. However, I haven't used Xpress for anything longer than 2 hrs 15 min so I can't say how it affects the really long movies. On the upside, it is literally a "1 click" interface, making it as close to "fool-proof" (no offense Chosen...

) as it can be. Let me know how it works for you...my parents just bought one of the Dells with the NEC-based drive and they have been acting interested in DVDXCXpress, also.

My problem is that I cannot get their software to recognize my blank media (it does not seem to be a burner or media problem). There are so many threads on their site, it is crazy. Any ideas?
