apple people, lend me your ears.

I want this the 12 inch powerbook.

I like how compact it is. Though I'm kinda worried about how it performs. the 15 inch powerbook has a few hundred more megaherts and a l3 cache. is the 15 inch that much better?

everyone i know that got one raves over it and everyone else is envious of them. It should be able to do everything you want out of it, hell they even sell one with a superdrive. The only thing it lags in is gaming but you knew that when you plan to purchase a Mac.

JFYI, the 15'' hasn't been updated in about 9 months. If Apple does upgrade the line it is estimated to be mid september.

thats my current laptop right now. So far its been great, had it for now four months or so. Went up from an ibook 600 and noticed a huge performance gain. This site has some benchmarks on the different macs http://www.barefeats.com/pb17.html

Honestly you probably won't notice too much on the cache and speed differences, but it depends what you plan on doing with it and what programs you will be using. If you're gonna use a lot of photoshop or video stuff, you may notice a couple seconds here and there. One thing nicer on the 15" is that its got the ati 9000 which will be better for quartz extreme. But overall I'd say its not a big compromise for the much smaller form factor. Just a note, it looks like as verve mentioned, updates on the whole line could be around september. And getting a G5 in the powerbook line. . . I'd say no sooner than in January with a shipping date of feb-may.
