Question about plasma screen?
Today I was at Circut City and saw some 42" plasma screens. The two I was looking at were both Panasoinc. One was a HDTV and cost 6999 or 5999. The other was a EDTV and was able to be a PC monitor an dit was 4999. What's the difference? Thanks

I really haven't done much research on plasma tv's. But from what I get from skimming reviews, I think that the HDTV is mainly used for the HD signal that comes in. But I'm sure that you can use it as a regular computer monitor, yet you'll have to set it to the resolution of a widescreen setting. i think the same setting of one of those 17 inch widescreen flat panel version.

The HDTV one is 1280 x 768 resolution. It has more than the 720 lines you need for true HD. 720p or 1080i.
The EDTV one is 852 x 480. It has 480 lines for 480p. It has to scale the image to 720p or 1080i. |

The higher res one is 1024x768. They don't make a 42" plasma with higher than this resolution.
BTW, that $6999 + tax one is $4847.00 delivered, probably no tax, from OneCall today. |
