Virtual CDROMs
There are programs which enable your computer to have numerous virtual CDROMs.
For the life of me, I can not figure what purpose a virtual CDROM serves. |

they work wonders for when you download a vcd or Svcd image of a movie and you dont want to go through the hassle of burning it to a cdrom.

For games?
There are a number of commercial products that claim to allow you to make a mirror of a CDrom and copy-protected games will work just fine with them. Of those that I've used, very few actually fooled safedisc-encoded discs. For anything? Try using windows subst command. I used to use it all the time in the day. I think its "subst z: c:\cdcontentshere\"

Actually, on most of the virtual drives you can mount any common cd image file, and "read" the drive as if you had a burned cd.

Very helpful when it comes to bin/cue or iso files to see if they work and if you like it before you burn it

Does that mean you can view a CD+G (Karaoke) file on your computer without a special program? |

I'm not sure about Karaoke discs, but a good place to try is DaemonTools at http://www.daemon-tools.com -- it's my virtual drive program of choice
