ATI and Haupguage and the general favorites. If you also need to upgrade your video card, look into the ATI All-in-Wonder series. Otherwise, a stand-alone PCI card is for you. Avoid USB solutions for TV.

I have an 17in LCD monitor with a TV tuner built in-Cornea CT1702. The tuner is OK- not great. Also problably out of the budget of students- over $500 when I got it in January. Other solutions are probably cheaper.

Go to viewsonic and get their video processors. cheapest is about 70 bucks and they go up to 200. Might be a better alternative than PCI TV tuner. There's some discussion in the other Entertainment forum for it.

i have a question about tv tuner cards ... how is the recording quality? i was thinking on getting an all in wonder card by ATI in the future. i figure this will support my laziness (less head turning to the tv
)i think i'd want to record some shows too, just wondering what your experiences were |

true ... also, more things to break. that's why i really wouldn't want a tv with built in dvd/vcr ... cause if that dvd/vcr player goes dead, you just have a tv. same with the AIW. i would also consider getting two units, there's just a lot of tuner cards and didn't know which was good, but i'll look into the above card ![]() |

I've owned two Hauppauge WinTV Go! cards and one ATI TV Wonder card, and all of them haven't been great. They did their jobs, but the quality on the WinTV Go! cards has been really fuzzy (used it in Pittsburgh, Blacksburg and Lynchburg, VA). I'd go for the Asus or Leadtek offerings, they are $50-$60 and you get a remote and good software to run it (at www.newegg.com)

get some aluminum foil, and make antennas for the monitor, and hook it up. It probably wont work, but it'll make your screen look like a cool little alian!
