external sound cards?

how good are these? i know creative has a new one, the mp3+ that is external. does having usb 1.0 vs. usb 2.0 make a big difference? also, i believe that i have a soundblaster live 5.1 value card. would i just be regressing by buying the external i named above?

i believe that creative came out with the audigy 2 NX, which is the external version of the audigy 2.

i use an extigy and i have no real problems. for the extigy, i've heard of people getting scratchy noises when watching movies and playing music. i did at first, but when i reformatted my HDD, i had no problems. but the new audigy 2 NX is USB 2.0.
