Question USB Pen Drives

So...

I was looking through some of the older threads about this subject, because I need one. I don't own a floppy drive, so this is the purpose of the drive. Mostly right now, I need to take it to school with all my work on it, so I can transfer it over, and we can work on it at school (uploading it to my server, and then downloading it at school is too cumbersome given some of our requirements).

I was looking around newegg and tigerdirect, and I see a small variety of drives, from 32 to 512. I think I need one with about 128mb. Anyone have any personal experience with theirs, maybe some recommendations. It needs to the be USB 1.1 compliant (stupid slow school ).

TIA

i have a 128mb one from dell. it works well. just plug it into a usb port on a computer (works flawlessly with windows ME and XP) and it installs its own drivers and then shows up in my computer. if you check office depot and office max ads on sundays, you can probably find one pretty cheap. only thing is that with usb 1, the speed isnt the best...but of course you already know that. i do think that usb 2.0 ones are backwards compatible, so you could try finding one and going that route. *shrugs*

Yeah. I got in on the 128mb Kingston deal from dell. It works as advertised. Plug it into your usb port and windows displays a new 128mg drive.

I found a SimpleTech 128MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive $40.5 shipped at xPCgear.com. Is that considered a good price (deal)? If not, why did you guys pay for your 128MB? Thanks.

I bought a 256 MB SOYO cig@r pro usb drive and no matter what I do I am cannot get it to connect to a win 98 SE computer. I have purchased the Lexar one for many people now. That is a much better drive. It is so small in comparison to the SOYO.

I've got the same one as DF, and it's great. It is backwards compatible with 1.1. One thing about the 256MB one is that it is noticeably larger than the 128MB unit.

That amazon rebate is good til the end of the year, and amazon's prices tend to fluctuate some (e.g. that item was $45 AR a few weeks ago). So, if you can wait and watch, you may be able to get it cheaper.

I found another one: Sandisk Cruzer Mini 256MB USB 2.0 portable Flash Drive priced at $49.99 @ Costco. Is SD considered a good brand?
