I'm so conflicted
I'm wavering between light and ultralight notebooks. I don't know which one i want. What would be perfect is a very light midsize notebook with a 13-15 inch screen.
I dunno. I need to look around more. I really liked the IBM t40p (i think that's the right model number), but it's WAY to freaking expensive. I also liked the PowerPro C 3:16 laptop reviewed here, but it's way too freaking ugly (although the ibm isn't that great looking either, but at least it was all black so you don't notice as much). I know you guys helped me with wide screen laptops.... Could you guys help me complete a list of companies i can get laptops from? these are the ones i can think of: dell asus powernotebooks apple toshiba fujitsu hp (compaq) I'll feel better once i've looked around more and made sure i got the best one for me. Also are there things I should look out for (good and bad)? |

Don't spread yourself too thin there on the choices. If you want a quality machine that's going to last more than a couple of years, right away I'd narrow that list to:
IBM Dell Apple Toshiba Also, I wouldn't recommend an ultra-portable unless all you're going to be doing is e-mail & surfing... the power just isn't there on the tiny machines. I'd agree with you that the IBM T40p would be my first choice as well, but cost IS an issue. So back down the T40 - there are models that start as low as $1949, or even step back to a T30. It's still a great platform, and IBM sells them pretty dang cheap on their ebay store - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=31554 as an example. Go to http://www.ebay.com/ibm for a complete list. Good luck! |
