Is a Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC H1940 Personal Organizer a good Personal Organizer compared to something like a Palm Zire?? I am completely in the dark about these and my boyfriend wants one for Christmas. What are the pro's and con's I should be looking for?? I am trying to find one around $300 that gives me the most bang for my buck......help!

it also depends if what kind of OS you want. say you want the windows version, or if you want the palm os. I personally like the palm os. But thats just me.
Palm zire sucks a fatty, and I would never buy one! If 300 bucks is your limit. I'd go to dell.com and buy a "axim" which is dell's handheld if you choose to use the windows OS. But if you want the palm os. I'd go buy a visor. I've had mine for a long time now, and I use it all the time. I take notes with my foldable keyboard, and it's good times and all.

Get the HP iPAQ H1945 from Best Buy.
-266 MHz CPU -64 MB RAM -Integrated BLUETOOTH! (my current fave from working with it at my job) -SDIO slot or get the Dell Axim X5 from www.dell.com -- I have one and I absolutely love it. It's a bit more powerful, but does not have Bluetooth. If your boyfriend likes other gadgets/toys like cell phones and computers, get him the iPAQ H1945. If he doesn't use any other gadgets much, he won't really need it, then get him the Dell Axim X5. |

Ok, like everyone else on the board these days, my girlfriend needs a PDA. She likes the HP ipaq 1945 which we have priced at around $299. I saw the Toshiba on the deals page and have compared the two and they seem similar. Difference being Bluetooth, which I don't think she would really use, and what appears to be the ability to use WiFi. I read that the Toshiba has an SD (Secure Digital) card slot (3.3V) and I was curious if that was capable to use a WiFi expansion card? Anybody have any thoughts on the Toshiba? Thanks.

Yes, there are a couple of mfrs now shipping SDIO Wifi cards - Viewsonic and Socket Communcations both have them. |

Thanks for the links. I was poking around the Socket site and found a faq page that listed the currently compatible pocket pc's and the toshiba was not on the list. LINK It says that it needs SDIO slot and SDIO Now! software. Does anyone know anything about this software and what it takes to install this. Funny to me that I am doing all this research and I know my girlfriend will use never use it...
