Adding drive to Dell Dimension 2400

Where do I get a mounting bracket to add a 3.5" hard drive to 5.25" bay in a Dell Dimension? The drive bay/case doesn't appear to be standard.

This is my first "ready made" pc I've bought -- I got it for my Dad. I assemble my own PC's, but the Dimension 2400 with free monitor + CD-r drive was cheaper than the sum of the parts.

THanks!

I found this

but for $30 I'd get an external USB2 enclosure.

I bought the drive rails and attatched it to the HD. Then slid the thing into the open bay. If you read the manual they have screws behind the front computer cover for you to use. I have the same Dell model you got.

Are the drive rails standard? If not, where did you order them? I looked at the drive bay, on the sides, and didn't see holes that would work with the standard 3.5->5.25" mounting brackets.
I'll look at the manual tonight.

They are standard drive rails. You screw in the screws to the rails and slide it in. Then you're done. The screws they give you are "special" I think. I don't remember. They give you four screws that are stored behind the front of the case cover when you remove it.

If you don't know how to remove the front cover, that's also in the manual. I didn't know either...it's a sliding lock or something you have to push in and then pull to get the front off.

if you need to mount a 3.5" drive in a 5.25" bay you will need these $2.99 brackets as well as the extra rails in the case
