Canon digital rebel on front page

anyone else get in on it? Been looking for a dSLR for a while now, and after missing the dell deal, the onecall deal isn't too bad at all The lack of noise in the pictures from the camera is simply stunning.

I have the Canon 10D (which uses the same sensor) and the picture is just amazing. You won't be disappointed.

what lens do you have for the 10D? I think I'm going to get the "thrifty fifty" canon 50mm f1.8 and focus on my photography skills first before dishing out for some pricy glass.

It's a pretty versatile lens. It's a tad slow at 3.5-5.6, but the IS makes up for that a little. It doesn't come with a lens hood either. The 10D 1.6x crop factor makes it a 45-216mm, so it's not too great if you are going for some wide angle shots. Overall, I'm happy with it.

i'm deciding wheter to get a 10d or rebal next
it'll be a while till i get one, since i just got a used canon17-35 f/2.8L for a great price, older version of the new 16-35/2.8
will be 27-56 with either digital. wished i could afford 1ds to avoid the 1.6x cropping

Love my 50/1.8 its so cheap, that i dont really worry about it, for 70ish bucks you cant go wrong

the 28-105/f3.5-4.5 is also a good choice and is 150 bucks cheaper than the 28-135...no IS though

Leon how do you like the 100-400 L?
I was thinking about it, but ended with the 70-200/2.8 IS instead and i also had the 2x teleconvertor...fealt i would use more in the 100-135 ish range(for portraits) so it would be more useful for me...

I've taken very few pictures with it so far. I was supposed to use it to take pictures at race tracks, but I haven't been able to find the time to go there yet. But, if you don't need that zoom, it's prety huge, expensive, and a pain to lug around.

I've got one of the new rebels... all I can say, is that the picture quality is amazing, and it works with all my old ES leses from my 35mm camera.

I paid $998 for mine for the body only. That was a few weeks ago.

I am definitely interested in picking up a digital SLR, but I think i'm going to wait until after the new year to purchase one. I've already purchased too many goodies this year. Projector, 35mm slr camera, dvd burner, etc.

Right now I'm using the kit lens, which is the 18-55mm/3.5-5.6 lens. It's surprisingly good for costing only $100, but I think a lens hood would help it a bit outdoors. Planned purchases are the 50/1.8 mk1 (or mk2 if I can't find the mk1 for a decent price), and the 80-200/4.5-5.6 "Pocket Rocket". I've been looking at UV filters and circular polarizers, which ones do you use?

I don't use UV filters. I don't like too much extra stuff in front of my lenses. All of my lenses I have hoods for and they protect the front element well enough. For a cir-polarizer I have a Hoya HMC multi-coated.
