Sagers NP8890?
What do you guys think of Sagers new NP8890 laptop? Looks like a really nice laptop to me, depending on how you configure it...
http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/n...oductType=8890 What do you think?

WHOA! (yes, stated in a Keanu Reeves voice).
That portable looks awesome. TV tuner, Radeon 9600 mobility w/128MB RAM, and even hardware RAID 0 / 1 support. Not a bad price either when you consider what you're getting. Heck, at least it's cheaper than an Alienware or VoodooPC portable. ![]() So when is lpmiller gonna get THIS bad boy to review? [EDIT] I just looked at the weight of this behemoth with the battery...... 12 POUNDS! *shudder* |

Yeah I thought it looked like a good deal and a really nice setup. especially if it's got a 3.2ghz P4 in it and a gig of pc3200 on there. I saw G|A had already reviewed a couple of Sager's notebooks, but no 8890... I also heard someone make mention that Sager was making notebooks for Alienware?? Dunno...

Wow, 12 pounds is twice what my laptop weighs. I couldn't imagine lugging that thing around as much as I did with mine.

It's true that Sager's notebooks were built by Sager (or at least the same OEM manufacturer), but I don't know about their new ones. What I do know however, is that Alienware uses nVidia's GeforceFX Go5600, which pales in comparison to the Radeon 9600 mobile GPU -- and the Alienware is still $600 more than the top-end Sager model.

Yeah I wish Sager would drop a 5600 in there. I was noticing that they're all ATI powered which is fine, but hey, let's add some variety here...

i have a sager 5680 and it has the ati 128mb 9600 pro. Its really nice and clean and fast.
sager sells clevo laptops. Clevo (ODM) used to supply alienware with their laptops but the new area 51m is built by someone else. As for the geforce 5600, it does pale in comparison to the 9600. so even if you get variety you will probably get the 9600. |

But the 5600 sucks. I could review this one, but I need a laptop break - I know HardOCP used one at Computex, and really liked it. You could also check the forums at http://www.powernotebooks.com
