My main guess is that you previously used on-board graphics. If this is the case, there is a setting in your bios to turn off the onboard graphics and use your new PCI graphics card.

If that is not the case, when you do get back to your desktop, double check to make sure that you computer is not sending the signal to an imaginay moniter (ie the output is to monitor number 2). Also I have a geforce 4 mx 440 and on it, it has 2 monitor outs, try using the other one if you do have multiple monitor output capabilities.

Also we are going to need some information about your setup so that we can help you out more.

Such as:
Computer Age:
Manufactuer:
Processor:
RAM:
OS:
etc.

Try this:
- boot to safe mode (hit F8 during startup)
- right-click on My Computer and select Manage
- highlight Devices and expand Display Adapters on the right
- if your old device is showing, right click on it and select Disable
- restart and start up normally

i don't think this has been answered, but you are trying to run TWO monitors off of two different video cards, right?

if so .. you need to go to display options (i right click desktop -> properties -> settings tab). i think you need to set up there to use the other monitor, you need to check something to activate it and to send a signal out. i can't remember what exactly that was, but if everything installed correctly, it should be on that menu somewhere (maybe drop-down box).
