have you considered the inspiron 8500/8600. With the promotions out you can easily find them for under 1300

Answer these questions for us Grumpy:
1) How much carrying around will you be doing with this? 2) Are you going to be using battery power a lot, or stay plugged in?

personally for me, I like toshiba and dell
I've seen tons of HP's crap out like yesterdays pudding. at school here, I've seen lots of hp's getting fixed and sent back, and rarely on dell's and toshibas. I'd personally go for toshiba. very durible...I've had mine for 4 years, and it's done me good...and still rolling hard.

i was going to recommend the Dell Inspiron 8600 that starts around $1300, mostly because you get enough processing power for what you'll use it for (DVD, surfing, office apps, etc.), a 15.4" wides aspect ratio screen for multitasking and movies, and built-in wireless.
the Inspiron 5150 is good if you need all 3.06 GHz, but most people won't need that much. |
