Ram or Motherboard

So i've been having this problem

I have an Asus a7v mobo and crucial ram running windows XP

here is the deal... often.. very very often, as often as i'm running programs

if i try to save something. The program will terminated... many times without any warning or it will just close as if it wasn't even open. All traces will just be gone.

COme to think of it the only piece of software that this has never happened with is microsoft office.. happens very often with IE though

sometimes when i am able to click on save and the save window opens. I try to switch the location of the file to be saved, and the program will terminated as described above.
I've reinstalled the OS, everything is patched.. what do you guys think

RAM or MOBO

Oh... that wasn't a choice, was it?

I'd lean towards RAM as well, I guess. Got any you can borrow from someone to test the theory?

i'll just replace the ram with crucial.. take advantage of their lifetime warranty

guyz it wasn't the ram.. i just swapped the ram and that wasn't the problem i'm still having the same problems as before

Motherboard?

I dunno. Try running something like SiSoft Sandra's burn-in module for a couple of days. Or something like Seti@home for Folding@home. If they run for hours on end without crashing, perhaps it's something software related... a problem with compatibility or a conflict between drivers/patches/applications, or something like that. For example, if two programs conflict, and you reinstalled the OS and those programs, you might have just recreated the problem as well...

I don't know. I'm trying to avoid it being the motherboard, so I'm grasping at straws...
